OVERVIEW
Maryke Geldenhuys is a Lecturer in the Division of Health Systems and Public Health at Stellenbosch University. In this role, she leads the coordination of public health education within the undergraduate MBChB curriculum, ensuring that medical students are meaningfully exposed to the principles of primary health care and the realities of community-based practice.
She is currently pursuing a joint PhD in Higher Education with Stellenbosch University and Coventry University. Her doctoral research focuses on resilience in medical education and calls for a shift away from viewing resilience as an individual responsibility toward a whole-systems approach that supports resilience in undergraduate medical education.
Maryke is committed to fostering student wellbeing and resilience while preparing future health professionals to respond effectively to the needs of the communities they serve.
