OVERVIEW

Ndivhuwo Tshililo is currently a researcher in the Division of Molecular Biology and Human Genetics at Stellenbosch University (SU), which hosts the South African Medical Research Council (SAMRC) Centre for Tuberculosis (TB) Research. Originally trained in protein biochemistry with a focus on TB, she has since transitioned to studying protein biochemistry in breast cancer. Currently, her research is centered on the proteomic profiling of breast cancer subtypes, with a particular emphasis on triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC), an aggressive form of the disease that lacks targeted therapies. By applying advanced proteomics approaches, she aims to elucidate the key molecular drivers of disease progression and therapeutic resistance.

Her overarching research goal is to identify novel protein biomarkers and therapeutic targets that could inform more effective, personalized treatment strategies for breast cancer patients. Beyond her experimental research, she partners with clinicians and data scientists to ensure that discoveries in proteomics contribute to improving patient care and treatment strategies.

Through her evolving career, Ndivhuwo Tshililo is dedicated to advancing scientific understanding by integrating fundamental protein biochemistry with innovative approaches in cancer research, with a particular focus on proteomics-driven insights into breast cancer pathogenesis.
