OVERVIEW
I am a Lecturer in Mathematics Education in the Department of Curriculum Studies at Stellenbosch University. My work sits at the intersection of Mathematics Education and Curriculum Studies, where I explore how teachers, learners, technologies, and environments intra-act to shape what becomes possible in classrooms and beyond.
Grounded in posthumanist theory, particularly Barad’s agential realism, my research reimagines curriculum not as a fixed document, but as a living, shifting assemblage entangled with histories, futures, and more-than-human agencies. While my earlier scholarship focused on metacognition, pedagogies of play, and coding and robotics education, I now view these as material-discursive practices that matter within the thick, interconnected realities of teaching and learning.
Before joining Stellenbosch University, I lectured at STADIO Higher Education and North-West University, where I led programme design, module coordination, and curriculum (re)design initiatives that integrated conceptual, creative, and research-informed approaches to mathematics teaching. My academic work has been recognised through several awards, including the EASA Postgraduate Master’s Medal, NWU University Excellence Award, and a Faculty Teaching and Learning Award.
Beyond academia, I am a competitive road cyclist and proud member of the Chalk-Air Ladies Racing Team. Cycling, for me, mirrors scholarship—it demands endurance, focus, and the courage to push beyond limits while embracing growth and possibility.
