OVERVIEW

I am a researcher in Conservation Ecology and Entomology at Stellenbosch University. My research spans across landscape ecology, biodiversity conservation, and functional agro-ecology across terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. With a focus on biodiversity patterns and processes in natural, agricultural, and forestry landscapes, I aim to enhance the design and management of conservation set asides and offset to promote sustainable practices that protects biodiversity. My work integrates principles of functional ecology and agro-ecology, emphasizing the benefits of biodiversity for ecosystem services such as pest regulation, pollination, and soil health. Through teaching, mentoring, and collaborative research, I strive to advance our understanding of conservation strategies that bolster resilience and biodiversity in managed landscapes.

In 2017, I became an Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Insect Conservation.
