I teach economic history to undergraduate and graduate students and write frequently on the topic, either by contributing to research or for a more popular audience, as a columnist and blogger. I am the Chair of Economics, History and Policy at Stellenbosch University and Director of LEAP, the Laboratory for the Economics of Africa's Past, a research centre dedicated to the study of African economic history within the Department of Economics.
