OVERVIEW
Dr Albert Strever, is a senior lecturer in the Department of Viticulture and Oenology at Stellenbosch University and also coordinates innovation and entrepreneurship activities in the AgriSciences Faculty. He is also a teaching fellow, specialising in entrepreneurship and artificial intelligence incorporation into Teaching, Learning and Assessment activities at the University. He completed in 2023 a structured Master’s degree in Engineering Management (MEM) with a research assignment that focused on using Natural Language Processing for scoping and scanning recent technology trends in an AgriSciences-related curriculum. He is involved in several initiatives at the university and beyond related to technology utilisation related to the 4th Industrial Revolution, entrepreneurship and startup development, data management, technology landscape scanning/scoping, personal, team and corporate strategy and innovation. He was also a finalist in the EDHE Entrepreneurship in Teaching Excellence awards in 2023 and is actively aiming at bridging the gaps between academia and industries through, science, engineering, innovation, business and managerial skills, and debunking the myth that “soft” skills are soft (they are rather professional competencies essential to survival in the VUCA world!).
