OVERVIEW
I am a dedicated Associate Professor in Physiotherapy with over 27 years of experience in clinical practice, teaching, and research. With a PhD in Pediatric Neurology, my research focuses on motor development and intervention strategies for children with cerebral palsy, among other neuromuscular conditions. I have published extensively in leading academic journals, including recent work on maternal mental health and neurodevelopment, motor skills interventions, and pediatric rehabilitation.
I am actively involved in curriculum development and educational innovation at Stellenbosch University, where I am spearheading the physiotherapy program renewal. I have completed a Teaching and Learning Fellowship, which further cemented my passion for improving educational strategies to prepare students for the evolving landscape of physiotherapy. I continues to supervise both MSc and PhD students, contributing to advancing clinical research and training future leaders in the field.
In addition to her academic duties, I serves on various national committees, including the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) Board for Physiotherapy, Podiatry, and Biokinetics, where I chairs the Education, Training, and Registrations Committee as well as the INterboard Health Committee. My contributions to the field of pediatric physiotherapy, curriculum development, and her advocacy for enhanced rehabilitation services reflect her commitment to improving patient care and physiotherapy education.
