OVERVIEW
I am the Head of the Department of Economics at Stellenbosch University.
My research is rooted in Institutional Economics. While my early work and PhD focused on comparative country analysis, I have since applied this theoretical base to a wide variety of economic challenges. My current research investigates the socio-economic impact of traffic accidents, exploring how institutional frameworks, regulations, and societal norms intersect to influence road safety and economic outcomes.
