I lecture Mathematics Education in the Department of Curriculum Studies at Stellenbosch University. My academic passions span language and mathematics education, with particular interest in metacognition in learning.  My enthusiasm for discovering and sharing knowledge fosters productive learning experiences in the teacher education classroom.

Research in areas such as learning strategies, personal epistemology, and self-directed learning, underscore my commitment to move beyond content knowledge in curriculum development and teacher education. 

Before joining the Education Faculty at Stellenbosch University, I taught in South African schools, and developed academic materials, such as textbooks and teacher education guides, for school-level as well as tertiary-level users.
