Jeanne Terblanche is a Lecturer in Economics at Stellenbosch University and a PhD candidate affiliated with the Bureau for Economic Research. Her research focuses on the intersection of fiscal policy and inequality, with a particular emphasis on heterogeneous-agent macroeconomic modelling and its application to policy-relevant questions in South Africa.

She holds a BCom in International Business (cum laude), a BCom Honours in Economics (cum laude), and an MCom in Economics (cum laude) from Stellenbosch University, where she graduated top of her master’s class and received the Prof Sampie Terreblanche Prize for the best MCom thesis on inequality. Her academic work includes a publication in the South African Journal of Economics examining fiscal policy and inequality dynamics in South Africa.

Her current doctoral research employs heterogeneous-agent New Keynesian (HANK) models to study distributional outcomes of fiscal policy. She has participated in advanced training workshops in heterogeneous-agent macroeconomic modelling, including recent work extending overlapping generations (OLG) frameworks to analyse distributional policy questions.

In addition to her research, Jeanne is actively involved in teaching. She currently lectures Honours-level Macroeconomics and contributes to undergraduate teaching in Macroeconomics and Monetary Economics. She is passionate about equipping students with practical quantitative skills in macroeconomic modelling and fostering engagement with policy-relevant economic questions.
