OVERVIEW

I am an Associate Professor of Applied Mathematics at Stellenbosch University. My research is in numerical analysis and scientific computing, with a focus on spectral methods, orthogonal polynomials, and fast algorithms for solving differential equations. I enjoy developing both theory and software, and was previously Director of the open-source Chebfun project at the University of Oxford.

I studied mathematics at Imperial College London and completed my doctorate at Oxford, before moving to South Africa in 2014.

At Stellenbosch, I teach courses in numerical methods, applied mathematics, and scientific computing, and I supervise Honours, Masters, and PhD students. I aim to connect rigorous mathematics with practical applications, and I enjoy working with students on both theory and computation.
