DrMegan Matthews
Lecturer
Chemistry And Polymer Science
OVERVIEW
Lecturer and Researcher in Analytical Chemistry, with a research specialization in materials science and NMR spectroscopy. My work focuses on solid-state and in-situ NMR spectroscopic techniques, particularly as applied to polymers. I am passionate about advancing sustainable materials science, with ongoing research into polymer recycling and depolymerisation.
I actively maintain relationships with the local polymer industry through collaborative projects, including the recycling of agricultural nets and the development of value-added products from recycled plastics. These partnerships are central to my goal of bridging academic research with real-world applications.
In my teaching, I emphasize the connection between student success and innovative approaches to learning in Analytical Chemistry. I supervise MSc, PhD and postdoctoral research and contribute to national and international scientific communities through committee work and research collaborations.
