DrSimthembile Xeketwana
Senior Lecturer
African Languages
OVERVIEW
My research focuses on language and education, with a particular emphasis on genre-based pedagogy, isiXhosa education, and multilingual teaching strategies. I am also interested in exploring the intersections between research, policy, and practice, especially in preparing preservice teachers for linguistically diverse classrooms. In my work with multilingualism, I am dedicated to developing isiXhosa as a language of learning, teaching, and assessment in both basic and higher education.
My research output includes peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, and a co-edited book, some of which are written in both English and isiXhosa. Through this, I aim to highlight isiXhosa as a language of learning, teaching, and research, alongside English.
