I currently hold the position of Associate Professor in Therapeutic Nutrition at the Division of Human Nutrition, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Stellenbosch University (SU). I am a registered dietitian, and obtained my BSc Dietetics, Master of Nutrition (Research) and PhD (Nutritional Sciences) degrees from Stellenbosch University. 

I have been involved in under- and postgraduate teaching and research for more than 25 years. I teach widely on a variety of topics in the clinical / therapeutic nutrition field. My key research interests include Hospital Malnutrition, Micronutrients, Oncology Nutrition, Infectious Diseases, Nutritional Status Assessment and Evidence Based Methodologies. My work is published in the peer-reviewed literature, and I have presented at numerous congresses and symposia.

I am a Past President of SASPEN (South African Society for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition) and have served in various portfolios on the Executive Councils of SASPEN and ADSA (Association for Dietetics in South Africa). I am an Associate Editor of both the International Journal of Applied and Basic Nutritional Sciences (NUTRITION) and the South African Journal of Clinical Nutrition (SAJCN).
