OVERVIEW
As a researcher at Stellenbosch University, my work focuses on advancing superconducting electronics. In 2019, I completed my PhD in Electronic Engineering at Stellenbosch University, presenting a dissertation titled "Simulation and Verification Software for Superconducting Electronic Circuits." During my doctoral studies, I developed JoSIM, an analog circuit simulation engine tailored for superconducting circuits. JoSIM utilizes the modified nodal analysis method and supports both voltage-based and Josephson phase-based simulations. This dual approach allows for the direct application of direct-current sources, including static magnetic fields, to circuits with zero resistance. Additionally, JoSIM features a robust mathematical expression parser and an integrated graphical user interface for result plotting.
I have been actively involved in international collaborations, notably contributing to the ColdFlux project under the IARPA SuperTools program. This initiative focused on developing an open-source electronic design automation (EDA) tool suite for superconducting circuits, particularly targeting Rapid Single Flux Quantum (RSFQ) and Adiabatic Quantum Flux Parametron (AQFP) logic. As part of the ColdFlux team, I helped develop a comprehensive RSFQ cell library compatible with the MIT Lincoln Laboratory's SFQ5ee fabrication process. This library is instrumental in validating the functionality of the ColdFlux EDA tools and serves as a valuable resource for designers in the superconducting electronics community.
