I am a Chartered Accountant (South Africa) (CA(SA)) by profession/designation, with quite a few years of experience in practice in Auditing, but also wider than that, in the Accounting profession in South Africa. My heart is in academia and has been there for many years. Consequently, I left the professional/private sector in 2000 to start an academic career. Having built myself up from a senior lecturer position in Stellenbosch University's then Department of Accounting, today I am a Full Professor of Auditing with a PhD (Accounting).

I have served two three-year terms as the Director of the Stellenbosch University School of Accountancy and also ex officio Vice-dean (School of Accountancy) in the University's Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences, in addition to having acted in this role previously for 15 months.

From 1 January 2025 until 31 October 2025, I was the acting Dean of the Faculty of Economic and Management Sciences at Stellenbosch University.
