OVERVIEW
Prof. van der Spuy heads the Bioinformatics Research Unit in the Dept. Biomedical Sciences at Stellenbosch University's Faculty Of Medicine & Health Sciences. He also serves on the management committee of the Centre for Bioinformatics and Computation Biology. His focus areas are machine learning, high-dimentional biological ('omics') data analysis, applied Baysian statistics and research sorftware engineering.
