OVERVIEW
Dillon Wademan is a senior-researcher and socio-behavioural scientist at the Desmond Tutu TB Centre. Since joining the Desmond Tutu TB Centre, Dillon has conducted extensive research on TB and HIV treatment and prevention studies. His work has involved evaluating new drugs and formulations for high-risk populations in South Africa and explores the limitations of medical interventions and interruptions in care cascades, seeking to improve treatment outcomes through health systems innovation and psychosocial interventions.
His research predominantly focusses on understanding the acceptability of TB treatment for children, adolescents, and their caregivers. With a focus on qualitative, participatory, and ethnographic research methods, Dillon investigates the psychosocial and structural factors influencing TB risk, experience, and treatment management. His research aims to uncover how these factors affect the implementation, efficacy, and acceptability of TB treatment.
Most recently, Dillon is working in the post-TB landscape, focusing on understanding the long-term impact of TB on individuals and their care needs after treatment. This research aims to identify the ongoing challenges faced by TB survivors and inform the development of effective post-TB care strategies.
